Orphaned of both parents, she now lives with her guardian, her aunt Nguyễn Thị Hạnh

Academic record: outstanding student

A grade 3 student, this year she moves up to grade 4 at Tân Lập B Primary School – Đồng Phú – Bình Phước

Scholarship: Tuition + other costs: 2,200,000 VND + 10 notebooks + 1 ruler + 2 fountain pens + 2 boxes of ink.

Family circumstances:

She lost both parents when she was little. Out of love for her, her aunt took her in and has kept her in school. Yet her aunt's family is far from well off: the household of four depends entirely on the little over 3 million VND a month her aunt earns as a hired laborer. The family is not registered as a poor household, so Phước receives no school subsidies or assistance of any kind.

Misfortune piled on misfortune: she was born with a heart defect, and her aunt borrowed money from everyone she could to pay for her heart surgery. More than 40 million VND, a heavy debt for the family right now, taken on out of love for her, so that she could live….

She is petite and still rather frail after coming home from heart surgery. Even so, we could see deep in her eyes a longing to go to school and to pursue her hopes and dreams. In just a little while her health will recover, and she will be back at school…

We decided to choose her because her determination, her faith, her aspirations, and her certificates of merit too, proved themselves and won us over.
