I/ PURPOSE AND MEANING

More than 90% of the people living in Ninh Hoà village belong to the H’Mông ethnic minority. During our field survey trip there, we found that the villagers face great hardship in every aspect of life.

As Tết (Lunar New Year) arrives and spring returns, Y Tam hopes to bring a vibrant spring festival to the villagers and their children, so that they can welcome a fresh, joyful, warm and meaningful spring.

It is also a chance for our volunteers to leave the city and experience a very different spring in a faraway place.

II/ FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES

1/ Holding a spring festival for the ethnic minority children, estimated cost about 54,000,000 VND
– Giving more than 1,000 cakes and milk to the children attending the festival, from preschool through primary and secondary school: estimated at about 40,000,000 VND
– About 1,000 breakfasts and drinks for the children attending the festival: 8,000,000 VND
– Decorating and running the spring festival with 15 stalls for folk games, food, lotto, calligraphy..: 5,000,000 VND
– Performances and a spring-night campfire: 1,000,000 VND

2/ Wrapping bánh tét (sticky rice cakes) and giving 100 Tết gifts to ethnic minority families in especially difficult circumstances, estimated cost about 31,000,000 VND
– Wrapping 200 to 300 rolls of bánh tét to give to the villagers: about 6,000,000 VND
– Giving 100 gifts to 100 families in hardship; each gift includes sugar, fish sauce… with an estimated value of about 250,000 VND x 100 = 25,000,000 VND 3/ Transportation: a 45-seat coach costing 17 million VND and a light truck costing 5 million VND
 

– ESTIMATED TOTAL BUDGET FOR THE WHOLE PROGRAM: 107,000,000 VND

III/ VOLUNTEER WITH US

This year, Y Tam's spring festival is not only for the villagers and their children; Y Tam also wants our volunteers to experience spring in the remote highlands, far from the city's smoke and dust, where the air is fresh and peaceful!

This year's festival is very special: it marks Y Tam's 11-year journey. So Y Tam would like to invite our volunteers to come together and look back on the beautiful memories of our charity work over the years!

And to make the spring festival even more vibrant, Y Tam will need you at 2 stages: 1/ before the trip: preparing logistics for the program, making decorative scrolls, red envelopes and festival decorations together!

2/ Joining the trip: this is extremely important, so please remember to arrange your time and work so you can come. The festival will take place in a colorful setting, so remember to bring an áo dài so we can all dress up for the spring festival together.

1/ Transportation: a 45-seat coach and a truck
2/ Planned schedule:
Friday evening at 7 p.m., 06/02/2026: depart from Saigon for Quảng Tân, returning to Saigon on Sunday (8/2) (Y Tam will email the schedule to volunteers once you register)

3/ Meeting points: the Y Tam office, and the gate of Nguyễn Thượng Hiền School on the Hoàng Văn Thụ Street side (Bảy Hiền intersection, Tân Bình District)
