Traveling more than 200 km by motorbike, today (28/9) Y Tam's representative, Ms. Nguyệt Đình Khôi, went to Xuân Tâm commune, Xuân Lộc, Đồng Nai, to award a full scholarship to Nguyễn Thị Kim Duyên, a grade 6 student at Nguyễn Đình Chiểu Lower Secondary School, Xuân Tâm – Xuân Lộc – Đồng Nai

Y Tam Awards a Full Scholarship to Nguyễn Thị Kim Duyên

Kim Duyên is one of the 6 students who received a full scholarship from the Y Tam Scholarship Fund in 2016. This is also the 3rd year that Y Tam has awarded her a scholarship.

Although the road is long and sponsoring her and following her progress takes considerable effort, Y Tam continues to sponsor her, seeing how very difficult her circumstances are and how hard she works and loves to learn.

Y Tam regularly follows her progress and encourages her to study hard, and all of her school costs for the whole school year are fully covered by Y Tam.

– Ms. Nguyệt also took her to the market and bought her some school supplies and clothes as a gift to encourage her to study even better.

– KIM DUYÊN'S FAMILY CIRCUMSTANCES

In 2008, Duyên's little brother fell into a pond. Her mother jumped in to save him, and tragically, both her mother and her little brother died that year. Duyên was only 3 years old at the time.

In 2011, Duyên's father died of cancer, leaving her too.

Orphaned and with no one to turn to, she was taken in by an orphanage in Gia Lai, which raised her through grade 2. When she reached grade 3, her uncle (her father's older brother) took her home to raise her.

In grades 3 and 4, she studied at Tân Phước B Primary School – Thạch Màn – Đồng Phú – Bình Phước. But her uncle's family was very poor: he earned 150,000 VND a day as a hired laborer, and the work was irregular, some days there was work and some days there was not, never enough to support the whole family. So at the beginning of August 2015, her uncle's whole family decided to move back to their paternal hometown in Xuân Tâm commune, Xuân Lộc, Đồng Nai, to make a living. Duyên had to change schools and continue grade 5 there. And in 2016 she started grade 6.

Y Tam sincerely thanks all the donors who funded the Y Tam Scholarship Fund in 2016. We wish you all the very best of health <3

Sincerely!
