Y Tam Holds a Secondhand Sale to Raise Charity Funds

As you know, for previous programs Y Tam usually hired a truck to carry clothes and supplies up to the villagers, because the 45-seat coach did not have enough room.

But this time, the Clean Water for Our School program is being held in Đăk Sa – Đăk Lăk, which is quite far away (nearly 400 km!), and a truck would cost 4 million VND (double the previous trips), so we planned not to hire one and instead to squeeze everything we had onto the 45-seat coach, and we didn't dare accept any more used clothes.

Yet the villagers up there really need used clothes, and here in Saigon many people have asked whether Y Tam is collecting them; there are quite a lot of used clothes out there.

The villagers really need used clothes

Today, a woman reached out to Y Tam: she has a lot of secondhand clothes that are still fairly new and nice. She suggested that Y Tam sell them and use the money to hire a truck to carry supplies up to the villagers. That way, we could also bring along all the clothes people have donated.

Oh, what a wonderful idea, and Y Tam wants to make it happen right away! Are you ready to support Y Tam?

Here is our plan:

– Borrow a space at Vườn Tâm Sen (25/3 Xuân Thuỷ, District 2) to gather, sort and display the clothes. This will also be the drop-off point for donated used clothes

– Everyone can bring used clothes or household items to donate to the villagers, or clothes, accessories, shoes, stuffed toys…. for Y Tam to sell to raise funds. Please remember to pick out items that are still usable and make sure they are clean, fresh and neatly sorted when you bring them over.

– The fundraising sale will be held at Vườn Tâm Sen next Saturday and Sunday (18-19/5).

– Prices for secondhand clothing items: 10k, 20k or 30k

– Y Tam will accept items from Thursday (9/5) to 20/5.

– The money raised will be reported openly and transparently on Y Tam's page. The first 4 million VND will go toward hiring the truck; any surplus will be used for the Clean Water for Our School program on 25-26/5

Drop-off point: Vườn Tâm Sen, 25/3 Xuân Thuỷ Street, Thảo Điền Ward, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
