Family circumstances:

The family is classified as a household in hardship. Her father works as a rubber tapper, and her mother is too frail for much work and constantly ill. She currently lives with her parents and her younger sister, Minh Thư, in a rented house in Đồng Phú, Bình Phước

Based on her academic achievements over the past years, Y Tam has decided to continue sponsoring her for the 2017 – 2018 school year, and to guide her in her studies so that she always achieves her best.

We arrived at Tiên's house one cool midday. When they saw us, Thủy Tiên and her sister were overjoyed; she came all the way out to the gate to welcome us and did not forget to ask whether we were tired from the journey.

Thủy Tiên's house is rather small and sits in the middle of a rubber plantation. When we arrived, both her parents had already gone to work. She told us that last year her parents had planned to move back to Nam Định, but in the end they stayed and rented this house. Every day her father goes rubber tapping to provide for the whole family. Her mother's illness has eased, but she still needs regular medication and cannot do heavy work, so the whole family depends on her father alone.

Thủy Tiên, Y Tam's pride

When asked about her school results over the past year, Tiên smiled brightly and proudly told us that she is a very good student and ranked 2nd in her class. As she spoke, she pointed to her bookshelf, where she had carefully hung her certificates of merit: all her certificates from grade 1 to grade 7, plus those from the Youth Union and the Young Pioneers… Besides being a diligent, well-behaved, excellent student who is devoted to her parents, Tiên is also loved by many friends because she is caring and often helps classmates who are struggling more than she is, without ever making a fuss about it.

Thủy Tiên also shared with us: “When I grow up, I want to do noble work like the Y Tam brothers and sisters, going to faraway places to help children in difficult circumstances who don't have the opportunity or the motivation to study that I have now.” That made us feel so proud of the little student we have sponsored all these years.

With her spirit of rising above life's difficulties and a bright heart that always cares for others, we hope she will one day achieve her dreams and contribute to society.

Investing in education is always a long-term, sustainable investment that leads to change and to the development of people and communities in the future. That is why Y Tam is deeply committed to this investment.

Y Tam very much hopes to receive everyone's support <3
