We visited Y Ngông Primary School in Đắc Sa village, Đăc Nuê commune, Lăk district, Đăk Lăk province at midday. That was when I felt the scorching heat here most clearly. The grass under my feet was completely burnt dry, and the coffee and pepper plants the villagers grow were withering for lack of water.
The village still has no electricity, and only a few households have a drilled well.

I/ SURVEY RESULTS
Y Ngông School is a satellite site about 20km from the main campus. It has 2 blocks: a new single-storey block of 8 classrooms built by the state, and another block of 3 classrooms.
From our survey, we gathered the following information from the principal and the local authorities:
– The school still has no electricity
– Water: there used to be a well, but it is now broken and can no longer be used
– Toilets were built, but with no water they were left unused for a long time and have badly deteriorated. The pipes are broken and the flush valves are gone
– The school has 182 primary students in total. They all live far from school, so they stay at school over lunch and only go home after afternoon classes
– More than 90% are children from ethnic minority communities: H'Mông, Stiêng…
– At the start of the school year, the children all lack school supplies, especially textbooks. They are fully exempt from tuition and other fees
More than 90% are children from ethnic minority communities: H'Mông, Stiêng
The school's toilets are badly damaged and unusable
Based on the survey results above, and after working with the parties involved (school representatives, the local government and a well-drilling company), Y Tam decided to carry out the CLEAN WATER FOR OUR SCHOOL program on 25-26/5/2019, including these activities: drilling a clean water well for Y Ngông School, repairing the school's toilets, building recycled play structures from car tires, giving school supplies to the 182 students at the school, and holding a festival day of fun for the children ahead of International Children's Day, 1/6/2019.
Y Tam also still has a generator donated by a donor, which will be given to the school, so there is no need to buy one.
