Blazing Summer 2018

We saw a red, just like that very red:

– The red of the Y Tam shirt

– The red of love

– The red in every passionate young heart

– The red that lit a fire and lit up an entire summer.

And all of us truly burned bright, creating a BLAZING SUMMER that left its mark on 16-17/6/2018 in Bù Gia Mập, Bình Phước.

Our summer:

– Turned an empty lot into a recycled playground with 19 combined play structures in just 12 hours

– Renovated an entire primary school with 4 classrooms: repainting it completely, redoing the old tiled floors, thoroughly cleaning all the fixtures, and waterproofing the school and fixing its leaks.

– Held a campfire night with games and performances together with the ethnic minority children

– Held a festival day of fun for 200 children with 10 folk game booths

– Cooked more than 200 servings of bánh canh noodle soup and herbal drinks so the children could play on full stomachs – All 200 children at the festival received snacks, candy and milk from Y Tam

Most special of all, we held a three-way signing ceremony between the leaders of Bù Gia Mập district, the leaders of Hoàng Diệu Primary School and representatives of Y Tam for the handover of the recycled playground and the 2 newly renovated school buildings. The agreement is long-term and binding, committing the local authorities and the school to looking after and repairing the playground and the renovated primary school.

It's fair to say that the Blazing Summer program was a complete success, with results beyond our expectations. Y Tam could only achieve this thanks to the effort and material contributions of a great many individuals, businesses and donors.

For this, Y Tam extends our heartfelt gratitude to:

– Our donors, individuals, businesses and organizations in Vietnam and abroad, who funded the program

- The staff and management of Thích Làm Mộc Workshop, who donated labor, wood and space for Y Tam to build the play equipment in advance.

– ECONO Paint, which sponsored all the paint for the school, and whose company representatives even made a site visit to the school.

– The local leaders of Bù Gia Mập district and Phú Nghĩa commune – The teachers at Hoàng Diệu Primary School.

Above all, Y Tam is deeply grateful to all the volunteers who gave their effort to help Y Tam complete the playground and the Blazing Summer program. Thank you for following and sharing our news to help Y Tam promote the program and raise funds over the past while. Finally, Y Tam wishes you all good health and peace in all things, and hopes you will always walk alongside Y Tam on our next volunteer journeys.
