On 24/1/2016, after holding the inauguration ceremony for the Y Tam rural bridge in Phụng Hiệp, Hậu Giang in the morning, Y Tam traveled in the afternoon to Mỹ Tú district, Sóc Trăng to hand over a charity house to Ms. Nguyễn Thị Nhãn and her child.

Ms. Nguyệt Đình Khôi with Ms. Nguyễn Thị Nhãn.

Ms. Nhãn was born with disabilities in both her hands and her legs, yet she has kept striving to rise above her fate with the family sewing machine, making the simplest products such as pot holders… to earn a living. She is a shining example of the saying: “Disabled, but never defeated.”

Ms. Nhãn's house when Y Tam came to visit.

Moved by her strength and saddened by the hardship she and her child face, Y Tam decided to give them a charity house.

And Y Tam's charity house.

The handover ceremony was simple and modest, yet full of human warmth. Now the old, leaky, run-down house has been replaced by a sturdy, cozy new home. Y Tam members and donors also gave her lucky money to celebrate welcoming the new year in her new house.

Happiness filled the hearts of mother and child, and of Y Tam too.
