Program: Building a Charity House for Ngọc Diệp's Family – Bình Phước

I/ Y TAM'S EDUCATION SUPPORT PROJECT AND TRIP

You may already know that Y Tam has been carrying out an education support project providing full scholarship sponsorship for 11 students in especially difficult circumstances in Bình Phước and Bình Dương. Among them is Đàm Thị Ngọc Diệp, a 5th-grade student at Tân Hòa Primary School, Đồng Phú, Đồng Phú district, Bình Phước province. In both years of Y Tam's sponsorship, she has been named an excellent student.

At the end of the first semester, Y Tam made a trip to visit the students at home to follow up on their studies and their lives. What troubled Y Tam most on this trip was Ngọc Diệp's house in Đồi Le hamlet, Tân Hoà commune, Đồng Phú district, Bình Phước. The single-story house, built with bamboo-wattle walls, has rotted away over time and can no longer keep out the sun and rain.

Ngọc Diệp's family is classified as a household in hardship and belongs to the Tày ethnic group. Her father is Mr. Đàm Văn Cáng and her mother is Dương Thị Thảo. Both work as hired laborers, sometimes tapping rubber, sometimes doing whatever odd jobs people ask of them, so their income is unstable.

Mr. Cáng shared: Every rainy season the stream rises and floods the house half a meter deep, it's so hard…
His family's greatest dream is to have a house that keeps out the sun and rain and no longer floods; they don't ask for much more than that….

Y Tam understands this deeply, so we have decided to help Ngọc Diệp's family get the house they have always dreamed of.

II/ TIMELINE

Planned start of construction: Tuesday, 9/6/2020
Completion: within 1 month

III/ CONSTRUCTION

Y Tam and the Đồng Phú District Young Pioneers Council, Bình Phước, are responsible for supervising construction and ensuring the quality of the work
A local building team will carry out the work according to Y Tam's drawings and cost estimate (with photos in this post)

IV/ FUNDING

Total estimated cost (with a detailed breakdown of each item): 61,545,000 VND
Family's contribution: 15,000,000 VND
Contribution from the Đồng Phú District Young Pioneers Council, Bình Phước: 25,000,000 VND
Raised by Y Tam from donors: 21,545,000 VND
